Steve Young
Designated Legal Counsel
The railroad labor unions appoint certain attorneys to act as their "Designated Legal Counsel". With such appointment, attorneys serve all members of the Union, assisting those who have questions regarding their rights as rail workers and to represent those of the Union who have viable claims pursuant to the Federal Employer’s Liability Act.
Steve is honored to be “Designated Legal Counsel” for two of the largest rail labor unions in America, the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers & Trainman (see note below) and the United Transportation Union.
Railroad employees are injured or killed on the job daily. When this happens, the railroads retain skilled claim agents and attorneys to protect their interests. They put their legal knowledge to work - taking photographs, obtaining statements from witnesses, collecting measurements. These agents and attorneys work for the railroad, not for you.
Designated Leagal Counsel is there to work for you and your family. Specialists in handing FELA claims and fully experienced in dealing with the trained railroad claim agents and railroad lawyers.
You should seek DLC counsel and advice at the earliest opportunity if you feel you have a potential FELA case against a railroad. Always remember that the railroad claim agent is just that - an agent for the railroad.
Regardless of the extent of the injuries as a result of your railroad accident, please feel free to contact us for any help or advice that you might require.
Note: On March 7, 2012, the BLET Advisory Board announced a decision that the "National Division will discontinue formally designating attorneys and instead will refer its members to the directory of the Academy of Rail Labor Attorneys (ARLA)," which Steve Young is the curent President.
